Treatment of hip dysplasia

Another excellent educational programme at this years meeting was delivered to an attentive audience of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, associated clinical specialities and academia. The venue once again was the Bristol City Center Marriott Hotel, Mr Callum McBryde from the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham delivered an authoritative presentation impressing upon all delegates that they have a role to play in the early detection of DDH deformity in the absence of a National screening programme for the detection of DDH is youngsters. Early detection opens the door to corrective peri- acetabular surgery and perhaps the welcome delay in arthroplasty surgery (a hip replacement). In those patients who do progress to Total Hip Replacement, Mr McBryde described the use of Symbios proprietary software planning in 3D using HipPLANĀ® and the planned reconstruction of the joint using Custom made implants from Symbios.
