Christmas 2018 has come along early for myself and my team with this heartwarming note, which I now have pleasure in sharing with you all……

Dear Justin and indeed the whole of the Symbios team.

I think it was 10 years ago today that David Stitson fitted the first of my 2 MoM THR and I just wanted to say a  huge thank you for the support you have given me over the years.

I have re-told how we visited the factory in Switzerland countless times and how your support at my Medical Board at RAF Henlow enabled me to fly helicopters again.  I had a photograph taken in Cyprus a year or so ago with a buddy of mine, who also has 2 artificial hips ~ 2 search and rescue helicopter winchmen and not a hip between them!

I’m currently working at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and have finished my time flying with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. I now in a planning role and plan Air Mobility flights for tasks across the globe. It’s an interesting role which occasionally sees me joining the flights; I’ve enjoyed flying to India, Africa and most recently Argentina. Your hips have a healthy air miles balance.

I’m looking forward to Christmas at home; we moved into our own place near Yeovilton where you first visited me at home to explain how hip replacements work.

Justin, I have always been so grateful for all the help and support and on this 10th anniversary I just wanted to say so.

Take care my friend, best wishes for Christmas and New year,

Pete Appleby.
